Welcome to study the complete Estill Voice Training® Level 1 & 2 course with two experienced Course Instructors.
The course offers a research-informed and practical model for understanding how the voice works and achieving vocal goals in a wide range of singing, speaking, and performance situations.
Estill Voice Training® is an internationally recognized, research-based model for voice training. It is used in singing, spoken voice, acting, voice rehabilitation, and voice teaching. The model is used worldwide, from the West End and Broadway to Covent Garden.
This is an official Estill Voice Training® Level 1 & 2 course, taught in accordance with the Estill Voice International curriculum in Tampere, Finland.
The course provides a practical approach to vocal control and achieving vocal goals across a wide range of styles.
Course Content
Level 1: Figures for Voice Control
Level 2: Figure Combinations for Six Voice Qualities
The course days include:
- lectures
- small-group practice
- Open Sessions, where participants receive individual coaching while the rest of the group observes
- identification of vocal examples
- identification of acoustic characteristics using voice analysis software
The aim of the course is to connect knowledge with practical application in a variety of singing and voice-use situations.
You may also attend Level 1 only. If you have previously completed Level 1, you may attend Level 2 only.

Course Instructors
Dorte Hyldstrup, EMCI-ATP-SD (Denmark)
Dorte Hyldstrup has worked professionally with the voice as both a singer and teacher for more than 35 years. She has taught voice at leading institutions including the Rhythmic Music Conservatory, the Danish National Academy of Music (DKDM), the Institute of Music Science, music schools, and numerous professional training programs throughout Scandinavia and Europe.
Since 2000, Dorte has taught more than 200 Estill Voice Training courses across Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, the Netherlands, Germany, Austria, France, Belgium, Ukraine, Russia, and Greece.
Her journey with Estill Voice Training began in 1988, when she travelled to New York to study directly with Jo Estill, the founder of Estill Voice Training. In 1991, she organized the very first Estill course in Denmark and had the privilege of working alongside Jo Estill as her assistant for the following nine years. Today, Dorte is recognized as one of the world’s most experienced and respected Estill educators.
Antti Annola, EMCI
Antti Annola is an Estill Mentor & Course Instructor (EMCI), singer, and voice pedagogue from Finland. He is the first Finnish EMCI and has been teaching Estill Voice Training® for more than a decade.
Antti has taught voice at universities and other educational institutions across Finland, including the Theatre Academy of the University of the Arts Helsinki, working with singers, actors, and other voice professionals.
Alongside his teaching career, Antti is widely known as the tenor of the internationally acclaimed Finnish a cappella group Rajaton. His performing career spans classical singing, jazz, musical theatre, and contemporary music. Through his work with Rajaton, he has also performed with numerous symphony orchestras across Europe and North America.
In his teaching, Antti combines extensive performing experience with modern, evidence-informed voice pedagogy.

The total cost of Level 1 & 2 consists of the course fee and the Resource Fee paid to Estill Voice International.

In addition to the course fee, participants pay a Resource Fee to Estill Voice International (EVI).

Course Venue and Schedule
The course will take place in Tampere, Finland, from Thursday to Sunday, June 10–13, 2027, from 9:00 AM to 6:30 PM each day. The exact venue will be announced later.
Registration
Places are filled in order of registration.
Registration takes place in two steps:
- Register and pay the Resource Fee through the Estill Voice International website.
- An invoice for the course fee will be sent to the email address you provide within a few business days. Your place on the course is confirmed once the invoice has been paid.
Cancellation Policy
Registration is binding. The course fee is non-refundable if a participant cancels or is unable to attend. However, participants may transfer or sell their place to another person, subject to the waiting list.
The Estill Voice International Resource Fee is non-refundable.
The Course Instructors reserve the right to cancel the course due to force majeure or insufficient enrollment. In such cases, participants will first be offered a place on another Level 1 & 2 course whenever possible. If this is not possible, the course fee will be refunded in full.
Please note that the Resource Fee paid to Estill Voice International cannot be refunded if the course is cancelled, as participants receive access to the Foundations of Estill Voice Training® online course after payment.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need any previous experience?
No previous experience is required to attend the Level 1 & 2 course. The course is open to everyone interested in the voice.
Can I attend online?
It depends on the course. In-person courses are currently available for in-person attendance only.
What language is the course taught in?
The language of instruction for this course is English. The course materials and the Foundations of EVT online course are also in English.

Is there a student price?
Yes. A reduced course fee is available for full-time students. The Resource Fee paid to EVI is the same for all participants.
I have already completed Level 1 & 2. Is it worth taking the course again?
Yes. Many returning participants report learning something new each time. This is natural, as the course covers a broad range of material and your understanding of the voice deepens with experience. Even familiar exercises and concepts can take on new meaning when revisited.
Repeating the course also provides an opportunity to refresh your knowledge, deepen your skills, and explore your own voice from new perspectives.
If you are planning to pursue EMT certification, participation in at least two Level 1 courses and two Level 2 courses is also part of the certification requirements.
What is the Foundations of Estill Voice Training online course?
Foundations of Estill Voice Training® is a required part of the Level 1 & 2 course. The online course is completed independently before the live course begins and introduces the key principles and concepts of the Estill Voice Model.
The online course is included in the Resource Fee paid to Estill Voice International. The Resource Fee also includes course books in PDF format, a certificate of attendance, and Estill Voice International administrative services.
Does the course include individual coaching?
Yes. The course days consist of lectures and small-group practice. Participants also have the opportunity to work on songs or spoken material of their choice during Open Sessions, where individual coaching takes place in front of the group.
Does Estill favor a particular singing style or vocal aesthetic?
No. Estill does not favor any particular vocal aesthetic, musical style, or ideal of what a voice should sound like. The model provides tools for controlling the voice in pursuit of different artistic goals. At the same time, Estill emphasizes vocal well-being and aims to promote efficient and sustainable voice use.
Will I be Estill-certified after completing Level 1 & 2?
No. Completing Level 1 & 2 does not in itself constitute Estill certification. However, these courses are among the requirements for those wishing to pursue Estill Voice Training® certification in the future.
Estill Voice Training® Level 1 & 2 is an official course offered by Estill Voice International and may only be taught by Estill Mentor & Course Instructors (EMCIs). Completion of the course is recognized as part of the Estill Voice Training® certification pathway worldwide.
I am a classical singer. Can I benefit from an Estill course?
Yes. Estill is not tied to any particular singing style or aesthetic. Instead, it provides tools for understanding and controlling vocal function. Classical singers, voice teachers, and opera professionals around the world use Estill Voice Training® as part of their work.
The aim of the course is not to change your singing style, but to deepen your understanding of how the voice works and how you can use it more consciously in pursuit of your own artistic goals.
I am an amateur singer. Will this course be too demanding for me?
Estill courses are open to everyone interested in the voice. The course includes theory, practical exercises, and application of the model to participants’ own vocal goals.
If you want to understand your voice in a concrete way and learn how it works, the course is suitable for amateurs as well. Although Estill draws on modern voice research, the exercises are practical, clear, and taught step by step.
No previous knowledge of anatomy or vocal physiology is required. Curiosity about your own voice is enough.
